Jane Harmon, PhDDr. Jane Harmon has served community colleges nationwide for the last 30 years as a faculty member, vice president of both instruction and student services, and president.  She came to California in 2001 and has been serving colleges across the state as a student success consultant, grant writer and as an interim president and vice president, most recently at Allan Hancock College as its Interim Vice President, Student Services. 

Dr. Harmon earned a Doctorate in the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin where she was a Kellogg Fellow and named as an Outstanding Graduate in 1999.  She was also a Kellogg Leaders Scholar at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where she studied at the Kellogg Institute for Developmental Education.  Her Master's Degree was in Education and Reading from Bemidji State University and her Bachelor's Degree was from Moorhead State University, both in Minnesota.

Dr. Harmon is committed to the community college mission, its students, staff and faculty.  She is a tireless fundraiser and believes that strong partnerships between a college and its community benefit all.  She also has been a strong advocate for professional development and was chosen to head the first initiative of the Minnesota Community College Center for Teaching and Learning. She was also a founding member of the Cornell Institute of Community College Development in New York.
